Sr. Systems Administrator (April 2011-Jan 2012)
Administrated approximately ninety Solaris 10 NFS
servers and hundreds of Linux-based computing nodes
that drive Media Temple's Solaris and Debian-based
Grid Service platform, hosting approximately a
million websites in a Puppet-driven automated
configuration management environment. Monitored
cluster performance using Nagios, Graphite, SNMP,
and Expect scripts. Wrote wiki-based technical
documentation. Mentored other administrators and
provided support to their virtualized computing
environment. Managed hardware replacement workflows
with product vendors and worked on high-density
storage solutions for new products.

UNIX Security Engineer (February 2003 — October 2004)
Provided Tier 3 support to a wide array of corporate customer
environments deploying PowerBroker UNIX privilege-delegation software on
numerous UNIX platforms, including Solaris, HP/UX, AIX, Debian and
RedHat Linux, IRIX, SCO, NCR UNIX, and QNX. Installed and
configured complete Solaris-based networks for
testing/development purposes.

Software Validation Engineer (July 2001 — May 2002)
Served as a hardware/software test engineer for a family of
developing network switch/router products. Wrote organized
test plans, executed standard test procedures, and developed
automated testing software suite based on Spirent test device
products, including automated test execution, tracking, and
graphical reporting. Developed mechanisms to validate routing
performance, QoS, firewall performance, and MPLS behavior.
Additionally, served as software developer for UNIX-based
network security products.

Network Engineer (January 1999 — July 2001)
Provided network design, maintenance, and escalation support
to both internal software and hardware engineering groups as
well as hundreds of customers' networks based on ATM (1483
and Lan Emulation), Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI/CDDI, Frame
Relay, IPv4, IPv6, IPX, PNNI, SNMP, and Q.2931 signalling
using multiple operating environments including Solaris,
Linux, BSD, Macintosh, and Windows. Developed network
debugging and performance monitoring tools for Solaris,
Linux, and VxWorks. Responsibilities also included training
of other engineers and interoperability testing with Cisco,
Lucent, Fore, Nortel/Bay, Cabletron, and others.

System Administrator (November 1998 — January 1999)
My responsibilities varied widely during this temp. position,
from end-user support to administration and support of WB's
IRIX 6.2 and NeXTStep workstations and heterogeneous
ATM/Ethernet network backbone. I assisted in development of
scripts and procedures for automated backup and archiving with
Legato Networker and proprietary backup software. I worked on
a team maintaining their Cisco/Fore Systems network while
troubleshooting problems down to the Animo/Maya/Lightwave
application environment.

System Administrator (April 1998 — November 1998)
I administrated a network of SGI, HP, and NT workstations and
servers running IRIX 6.4, HP/UX 9.01/10.2, NT 4.0, Win95,
NIS/YP and NFS. Included in my regular tasks were performing
operating system upgrades and patches as needed, supporting
users, handling regular data archival/backup using Legato
Networker and HP Omniback, and advising management as to
systems solutions. I wrote scripts and utility programs to
support digital ink & paint and automated in-betweening
applications including SoftImage Toonz, USAnimation, and
MediaPegs. I also set up and maintained the company's internal
network, web site and Internet access/firewall solutions based
upon 10/100Mbit Ethernet, FDDI, Linux and Farallon routers.
BlackSun Technologies
UNIX System Administrator (July 1997 — March 1998)
Responsibilities include maintenance of RAID storage arrays on
Solaris, SCO, and Linux servers, administration of TCP/IP
network design and implementation, including NIS management,
and Cisco router configuration, user support. I developed
HTML/CGI and Java applications to interface with SQL server and
real-time credit processing software.
